Sisterhood News
We will be having a short general meeting of the sisterhood with the date and time TBA in Temple Topics. The proposed by-law revisions will be
presented for discussion and hopefully approval.
I hope to keep the business part very short, so we have time to visit and catch up with one an- other. It would be wonderful if, after the business meeting, we had volunteers to help explain the game of Ma Jong to us neophytes who are clueless but would like to learn.
We plan to have a potluck lunch. Bring whatever you would like to share -or just yourself.
Sisterhood is the heart of the temple and we have lost contact with each other during Covid. We need to come together to reconnect our lives. Please come for the meeting so that we can have a quorum for the business and visit with each other.

Sisterhood News
It was wonderful to be able to see and visit with so many of our members at our Sisterhood meeting on Sunday the 20th. It has been a long two years since we have been able to get together.
One of our topics was plans for the bake sale. It WILL be held this year on November 3. We will set up a web site to enable people to pre-order. there will also be a pre-pay part of this site. All items will be picked up under the portico. The general feeling was that no one should come into the temple who was not working on the sale. Post cards will be sent out in August from our list of previous customers, and we will also be advertising it on some community forums I do not anticipate the same volume of sales as we have had previously, but we will begin again.
There was a lot of interests in starting a Mahjong group. It would be on Sundays about noon. A couple of our sisterhood members have offered to teach those who want to learn how to play. They need to know how many would be interested in playing so tables can be set up and we will have enough sets for everyone. PLEASE CALL JAN AT TEMPLE to let us know if you would be interested in joining us. I will call you about a start date.
The first night of Passover is April 15. It is a time to retell our story and celebrate a ceremonial tradition. May your family share and continue to treasure our heritage and celebrate all we have today.

A Note from Sisterhood
I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Peggy Ann Buchman, the new president of Temple Sisterhood. My husband Brian Hendrickson and I moved here over 5 years ago. Prior to that we belonged to Temple Chai, a large reform congregation in Long Grove, Illinois. I worked there as the clergy secretary for over 15 years. I’m looking forward to working with Tina Lyon and the other sisterhood members to help make our temple a warm inviting place for Jewish families to worship and engage with one another in an active community.
If you have any ideas or suggestions on how to help our congregation to grow as a community, please let me know. I hope to re-start the bake sale in November. With Tina Lyon, I’d like the Sister- hood to welcome any new members and their families to Temple B’nai Israel with a brunch in May or June. What activities would you like to see? What can we do to help you feel more welcome as part of our temple family? I came from a very active, engaged congregation and would like to bring some of that enthusiasm, with your help, to Temple B’nai Israel.
