Apollo’s Fire is Visiting our Temple!

We are so excited that Apollo’s Fire is coming to Temple B’nai Israel!   Jeannette Sorrell and Jeffrey Strauss will honor us with two songs and a rendition with our Rabbi and Courtney LeBauer.
Conductor Jeannette Sorrell and baritone Jeffrey Strauss have both been praised for their work in reviving historic Sephardic folk music and bringing it to  a wider audience. With the period-instrument ensemble APOLLO’S FIRE, of which Sorrell is the founder and artistic director, they have done 5 international tours and released 30 commercial CD albums.  Jeannette Sorrell won a GRAMMY award in 2019.

Their CD album “Sephardic Journey” was a Billboard hit and was chosen as one of the “Best 10 Classical Albums of 2017” (Chicago Tribune).  Their most recent album, “O Jerusalem! – City of Three Faiths” was praised as “mesmerizing… brimming with energy and imagination” (BBC Magazine, 2022).

Jeannette and Jeff are preparing for an international tour of their new program, EXILE:  Music of the Jewish & African Diasporas, which will take place in New York City, Cleveland, Chicago, San Francisco, London, and Heidelberg.  They will visit Temple B’nai Israel time and date TBA in our membership email, to share a couple of songs – and to speak briefly about their work as artists bringing Jewish music and history to new audiences.
